Disaster Academy is an IICRC approved school with over 75 years of combined cleaning and restoration expertise and knowledge here to serve you. We pride ourselves on giving real life knowledge and hands on application in our courses. Our instructors are currently or have been owners of cleaning and restoration firms still visiting job sites and gaining real world experience to pass on to the students. Sincerely, Disaster Academy Meet Our Instructors (Click on the instructor name to read about them) Scott Mims Joe Dobbins About our facility The Disaster Academy flood house is approx. 1250 sq. ft. of residential home, fully functional with different carpet types, substrates, wood flooring, sheetrock, wallpaper, cabinets, vinyl floor covering, and with furnishings also. This training center is used for advanced training with hands-on experience in structural drying, fire cleanup, oriental / area rug cleaning, as well as carpet repair / reinstallation. The facility also can house training for the Applied Microbial Restoration Technician (AMRT/S) course. FEATURES OF THE FACILITY: 1. Side-by-side comparison of extraction systems on realistic installation of carpet & pad. 2. Comparison of extraction efficiency of both truck-mounted and portable equipment. 3. Side-by-side drying of both direct-glue and stretch-in installations on concrete slab. 4. Side-by-side comparison of vented and injected wall drying units. 5. Drying of direct-glue carpet with enhancer backing on plywood subfloor. 6. Comparison of extraction systems and drying using minimum face weight carpet and medium-density pad, versus high-face weight carpet and high-density pad. 7. Side-by-side comparison of Class 2, 3 and 4 water losses within the same structure |
