Aside from teaching Scott also owns and operates a restoration business that produces both Disaster Restoration and Residential cleaning jobs. After attending the University of Kentucky and the University of Alabama on a football scholarship Scott started in the business as a carpet cleaning and water damage technician while working his way up to General Manager of the company before purchasing the company that had a 25 year history.  Scott grew up in the construction and restoration industry with his father and grandfather both running a construction business.

Scott is an IICRC approved instructor in Odor Control Technician (OCT), Fire & Smoke Remediation Technician (FSRT), Water Restoration Technician (WRT), and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) and has taught throughout the US as well as in Canada. His approach to teaching is formed through his daily hands on activities within his business still performing hundreds of water and fire restoration losses each year.

Recently he guided the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) technical advisory committee (TAC) to revision of the WRT exam which went into print in January of 08. Aside from serving as TAC chair over the WRT committee Scott has served on numerous committees with the IICRC and served from 2006-2008 as the Chair of the Cleaning Division of the IICRC overseeing all cleaning related courses. Currently Scott serves as the Chair of the Restoration Division of the IICRC overseeing all restoration related certification categories and is a member of the committee that is developing a commercial drying course for the IICRC. Scott is a participating member on all restoration and cleaning related technical advisory committees (14) within the IICRC.

Scott is a Master Water Restorer, Master Fire & Smoke Restorer, and Master Textile Cleaner.
